L.A. Rams 2023 Straight-Up Overview
The Los Angeles Rams won the 2022 Super Bowl. Heading into the 2022-2023 NFL Season,many believed the Rams had a chance to repeat.
Not only did Los Angeles fail to repeat, but LAR ended the season as one of the worst teams in the NFL. The Rams finished 2022 with a 5-12 straight up record. To make matters worse for Inglewood, the Rams couldn’t make a first round draft pick because they gave it away to acquire Matthew Stafford before the 2021 NFL Season.
Stafford, by the way, spent almost the entire season on the shelf. The Rams starter suffered an elbow issue that never quite healed.
Staff is healthy enough to start in week 1. But if he sits under center, it may not be for long. The Rams’ offensive line ranks as one of the worst in the league. Joseph Noteboom had an injury plagued 2022.
This season, Noteboom must prove he’s a legit left tackle. If Noteboom fails, the entire line will fail. Even if Noteboom has a decent season, the rest of the line is mediocre save for Rob Havenstein, and there is zero depth.
If the O-line struggles, it doesn’t matter that Cooper Kupp remains one of the league’s top offensive weapons. Staff won’t have enough time to get the ball to Kupp.
The defense will never be terrible as long as Aaron Donald plays. This could be Donald’s last season, though. So the Rams are desperate for a top defender to emerge. This is especially true after Jalen Ramsey bolted to the Dolphins and Leonard Floyd, who led the Rams in sacks last season, left for the Buffalo Bills.
It’s tough to see any positives for the Rams heading into this season. If anything, LAR struggles more. Instead of 5-12, let’s go 4-13.

In 2022, the Los Angeles Rams went 7-9-1 against the spread. Although the Rams were much worse than many believed, oddsmakers still managed to set fair lines on LAR games.
This season, we should expect a similar against the spread record. Because there are few, possibly zero, positive things happening in Inglewood, we’ll go 8-9.
