Why Bet on the Boston Celtics?
The Celtics started to get some traction in recent weeks. They currently hold the No. 10 seed in the Eastern Conference. There’s plenty of unanswered questions when it comes to first-year head coach Ime Udoka, but there’s enough time to secure a playoff spot.
The Celtics average 108.3 points (12th) per game on 44.3% shooting (19th). This should be enough to test the hosts and their 110.0 opponent points (24th) per game average. There’s more threat coming from the Celts with Jayson Tatum leading the charge. The forward holds a team-high 25.7 points per game, while Jaylen Brown is not far behind with 24.9 PPG.
Defensively, the visitors give up 105.5 opponent points (14th) per game. They should be protective of this end of the court since the Spurs scored 106 points or more in five of their last six games. The Celtics are a solid rebounding team. As a team, they collect 54.7 boards (ninth) per game. They average 10.4 offensive rebounds (11th) and 36.4 defensive rebounds (eight) per game this season.
Robert Williams III is the only starter on the questionable list. The rest are good to go this Friday. If the big man does not get cleared to play, Al Horford is likely to take over his position for the night.
Why Bet on the San Antonio Spurs?
The Spurs are in a tough spot right now, winning just four of 17 games in the season. Despite coming into the game as underdogs, Gregg Popovich and his squad are hopeful that they can turn things around before the first half of the season ends.
Previewing the offense, the Spurs are the best-shooting team in the paint now. They average 53.4 points in the area. The side also has decent shooting numbers and hits 46.6% of their shots (fifth). Additionally, the squad records 27.8 assists (second).
DeJounte Murray leads the team in points (18.1), assists (8.0), and steals (2.06) per game. He is joined by six other players in the double-digit scoring average, which is impressive for a team that features a relatively average lineup.
San Antonio’s defense is not as impressive as their opponents. The team averages 110.0 opponent PPG while allowing a 53.9% opponent effective field goal percentage (26th). These aren’t exactly the numbers we want to see from the five-time champions, but it looks like the franchise needs to deal with several rough patches to regain pace.
Doug McDermott is under observation after the forward endured a knee injury in his last outing. Lonnie Walker IV is expected to fill in for him if the team decides to sit out McDermott.

Celtics vs. Spurs Expert Betting Prediction
The Celtics have a better shot at winning the game here. They are the more consistent team in recent weeks along with a decent amount of talent running the show. However, do not discount the Spurs’ ability to cover the spread. The side showed improvement in their recent contests, but the Celtics are not the type to back down either. The upper hand goes to the visitors, but having a home-court advantage means that the Spurs can keep this one close.
