Favorites to Win the 2023 Heisman Trophy

Caleb Williams

The USC Trojans had a magnificent turnaround campaign last year and went 11-3 thanks to the phenomenal play of quarterback Caleb Williams. The 21-year-old gunslinger is the reigning Heisman Trophy winner after throwing for 4,537 yards and 45 passing touchdowns to just five interceptions while also racking up 109 carries for 10 rushing TDs. Not only is Williams poised to make history as the first-ever back-to-back Heisman winner, but he’s also deserving of being the consensus favorite to do so odds-wise as we speak.

Jordan Travis

Much can be said another Williams’ accuracy in the passing game, and Florida State’s Jordan Travis belongs in that conversation as one of college football’s brightest passers. Williams is geared to have a remarkable final year in FSU after completing 84 percent of his passes for over 3,200 yards and 24 passing TDs and just five picks thrown last season. If Travis is able to send the Seminoles to its first national title game appearance since winning it all a decade ago, he’d certainly live up to his borderline-favorite status of winning The Heisman and keeping the tradition of new winners of the award alive.

Dark Horses to Win the 2023 Heisman Trophy

Marvin Harrison Jr.

As the son of an NFL Hall-of-Famer, expectations have always been high for wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. The Ohio State standout finally broke out in his sophomore campaign, finishing with 77 receptions for 1,263 receiving yards and 14 TD catches. However, with the departure of quarterback C.J. Stroud, Harrison’s chances of being only the second wide receiver to win the Heisman Trophy since 1988. Nevertheless, Harrison has football greatness in his genes and is in good hands with a well-run Buckeyes program, as the 2022 unanimous All-American selection remains a solid sleeper pick to become the best college football player of 2023.

Blake Corum

Outside of quarterbacks, the majority of Heisman Trophies have gone to running backs. Michigan has one of the best RBs in Division I in 22-year-old Blake Corum, who was also named a unanimous All-American in 2022. Corum has a career average of six yards per carry, finishing with 1,463 rushing yards and 18 rushing touchdowns over 12 games last season. The reigning Ameche-Dayne Running Back of the Year winner has been the focal point of the Wolverines’ offense and his number will be called often in his senior year as another intriguing sleeper pick to become the first running back to win The Heisman since Derrick Henry in 2015

Huge Reach to Win the 2023 Heisman Trophy

DJ Uiagaleilei

Perhaps a change of scenery will bring out the full potential of former five-star recruit DJ Uiagaleilei. The 22-year-old gunslinger completed 229 passes for over 2,500 passing yards and 22 TDs last season in Clemson, but those numbers still pale in comparison to the rest of college football’s best arms. Uiagaleilei’s now assumed the helm of an Oregon State offense that had a top-30 rushing attack but averaged under 200 passing yards per game. Unfortunately, it’s this tall order of turning a Beavers offense into a real juggernaut that makes Uiagaleilei a mere longshot to win the Heisman Trophy against some top-heavy competition for the award.
