The 2023 Corales Puntacana Championship is one of the younger events on the PGA TOUR calendar, with 2016 being its debut on the TOUR after hosting several tournaments on the Web.com/Korn Ferry Tour. It has the distinction of being the first-ever PGA TOUR event played in the Dominican Republic.
A huge prize purse worth $3.8 million is at stake this week in the DR, which is a slight increase from the $3.7 million total payout from the previous year. Although the purse is relatively small compared to an average PGA TOUR event, the 300 FedExCup points at stake for the winner is an added incentive for the less prolific golfers on the TOUR to make up some good ground in their respective campaigns.
