2024 Spanish Grand Prix F1 Odds, Preview, and Prediction

By Hank Blaine

Formula 1’s last Grand Prix was an eye-opener. At the Canadian GP, Max Verstappen got back on the winning track. However, Lando Norris finished second, and in a surprise, the two Mercedes drivers, George Russell and Lewis Hamilton, finished third and fourth, respectively. On Sunday, Max, Lando, George, and Lewis step into their cars at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Spain for the 2024 Aramco Spanish Grand Prix. Verstappen is a tepid -190 favorite, followed by Norris at +400 at Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc at +800. Is Max worth backing to win his second straight? Check out F1 odds, analysis, and picks for the 2024 Spanish Grand Prix.

Top Pick to Win the 2024 Spanish Grand Prix

McLaren is making a real push this season to unseat Red Bull and become F1’s top constructor. Sounds crazy, but in the last few races, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri have both performed close to Verstappen’s level.

For sure, McLaren has a ways to go. But it remains early in the season. Norris finished a strong second in Canada last Sunday. Let’s not forget that Lando scored the checkered flag in Miami. So another victory isn’t off the table. The odds make Norris more than playable because he’s the second choice. The payout is much more than what Max offers.

Second Pick to Win the 2024 Spanish Grand Prix

If we were in March, we’d kill to get -190 on Max Verstappen. Back then, which seems like a year ago but was only about 12 weeks ago, Verstappen was offering -400 to win a race. But because of McLaren’s rice, the best driver and constructor at F1 offers fair odds.

Still, even at -190, Verstappen is a tough play. Max hasn’t won back to back races since taking the Japanese and Chinese Grand Prix back in early and mid-April.

Third Pick to Win the 2024 Spanish Grand Prix

Leclerc had a tough Canadian Grand Prix, only beating Logan Sargeant. The Canadian GP came a race after Leclerc won in Monaco.

So Charles could have suffered the proverbial bounce. We should expect a much better performance out of Ferrari’s top driver on Sunday. Ferrari is a step below Red Bull and McLaren. The Monaco win, though, means the outfit have improved their cars. If you think more improvement is on the table, consider.

Top Underdog Pick to Win the 2024 Spanish Grand Prix

Hamilton, who will drive for Ferrari in 2025, stepped it up in Canada. The Mercedes driver finished fourth behind teammate George Russell. Lewis is going to give it his all, and Mercedes used to dominate.

The cars aren’t up to the level of even Ferrari’s this year. Still, the odds are fantastic. So if you think Mercedes and Hamilton can score an upset, go for it.
