Top Tennis Betting Picks of the Week – February 27th, 2023

By Hank Blaine

The WTA and the ATP have two fantastic tournaments in Mexico this week. The ATP runs the Abierto Mexicano in Acapulco while over in Monterrey, the WTA puts on the Abierto GNPO Seguros. Tennis betting lines are set for early week matches. Check out odds, analysis, and free picks for three WTA matches and three ATP matches happening on Tuesday, Feb. 28.

Top Tennis Betting Picks of the Week (February 27th, 2023)

WTA – Abierto GNPO Seguros

Nuria Parrizas Diaz vs. Xiyu Wang

Parrizas Diaz beat Ana Konjuh in the first round at the Merida Open Akron. But Diaz failed to keep the momentum going in the second round, losing 6-7 (5-7), 2-6 to Camila Giorgi.

Xiyu Wang beat Alison Riske-Armitraj in her first match at the Merida Open Akron. Kimberly Birrell beat Wang in straight sets in Wang’s second contest.

This could go either way. Xiyu offers the better odds. So although Diaz is in slightly better form, Wang is the pick.

Tennis Betting Pick: Xiyu Wang +111

Elise Mertens vs. Diana Shnaider

18-year-old Russian Diana Shnaider upset Kristina Kucova in the first round at the Australian Open before falling to 6-seed Maria Sakkari in the second.

But Shnaider played great tennis versus Sakkari, winning the first set 6-3 before losing two straight.

Mertens lost to Danielle Collins in her last. No doubt, Elise should win this. However, it makes sense to take a shot on the younger player because Shnaider impressed against Sakkari.

Tennis Betting Pick: Diana Shnaider +223

Emma Navarro vs. Leolia Jeanjean

In her last, Sloane Stephens easily handled Leolia Jeanjean, beating the slight underdog in this 1- 6, 3-6.

Emma Navarro is 9-2 in singles matches this season, but she has yet to play in a WTA event. All indications are Navarro has the chance to be something special. So backing the 21-year-old makes sense.

Tennis Betting Pick: Emma Navarro -139

ATP – Abierto Mexicano Telcel presentado por HSBC

Cameron Norrie vs. Adrian Mannarino

At the Delray Beach Open in his last, Adrian Mannarino won his first two matches played. But in the third, he came up against Taylor Fritz, who beat Mannarino in straight sets.

Fritz is one of the better American tennis players at the ATP. So losing to Fritz is no big deal. Still, Mannarino faces ATP 12-ranked Cameron Norrie on Tuesday. Norrie won the Rio Open in his last when beating Carlos Alcaraz in the final. The chalk is playing too well to lose.

Tennis Betting Pick: Cameron Norrie -217

Carlos Alcaraz vs. Mackenzie Macdonald

Alcaraz fell to Norrie. Does that mean he’s vulnerable for the upset against Mackenzie Macdonald?

The underdog in this is playing well. But so is the 2022 U.S. Open winner. The favorite won’t lose.

Tennis Betting Pick: Carlos Alcaraz -250

Daniel Altmaeier vs. Brandon Nakashima

Altmaeier didn’t escape the first round at the Delray Open. Adrian Mannarino beat Altmaeier 6- 4, 2-6, 4-6.

Nakashima is 0-2 in singles titles this season. The chalk in this, though, pushed Mackenzie Macdonald big time in the first round at the Australian Open in his last.

Macdonald and Nakashima played 5 sets and 3 tiebreakers. The match ended in McDonald’s favor, but Nakashima showed he won’t go down without a fight. It’s tough to go against the chalk to win this.

Tennis Betting Pick: Brandon Nakashima -250
