2023 Valspar Championship Sleeper Picks

By Jeff Stinger

Over the past couple of seasons, no player has been able to defeat Sam Burns at Innisbrook, where he’s won back-to-back trips at the Valspar Championship. This week’s field is filled with rising golfers, though, especially in the mid-tier portion of the field where silent sleepers lurk and are eager to dethrone Burns from his throne found at the tail end of the PGA TOUR’s Florida Swing.

Nitrobetting is here to help turn your golf bets from bogeys to birdies. This time, let’s take a closer look at the three best sleeper candidates to keep tabs on at the 2023 Valspar Championship, as well as their corresponding golf odds to win the latest installment of the annual tournament held in Palm Harbor.

Justin Suh

  • 2023 Valspar Championship Odds: +3,500

As the reigning Korn Ferry Tour Player of the Year, Justin Suh is surely making quite a name for himself on the grandest stage of them all lately. Suh’s first full season in the PGA TOUR has gained some steam recently, pulling off a T5 at the Honda Classic and the end of February shortly followed by a superb T6 in last week’s THE PLAYERS Championship. The 25-year-old Bay Area native is on quite a roll and is a compelling sleeper pick on the betting front this week.

Brian Harman

  • 2023 Valspar Championship Odds: +3,500

After a strong start to the season with back-to-back runner-up finishes in November, Brian Harman has cooled off rather significantly. On the bright side, the 36-year-old Georgia native has turned in some decent results south of his home state’s border with a T5 in last year’s trip to Innisbrook and a T3 at THE PLAYERS a couple of seasons ago. Harman steps up his game during the Florida Swing and we expect him to live up to his sleeper status to win his first PGA TOUR event since 2017 this week.

Brandon Wu

  • 2023 Valspar Championship Odds: +5,000

Over his last five starts, Brandon Wu has slowly proven that he belongs in the big leagues. The 26-year-old Stanford product has made bank in 11 of his 15 starts this season. He set a new personal best on the PGA TOUR with a T2 finish at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in February, followed by a T4 and a T19 in his last two starts. In turn, Wu makes a compelling case as a worthy sleeper candidate for the week to win his maiden PGA TOUR event.
