A huge prize purse worth $8.9 million is at stake this week in San Antonio. That’s a $300,000 increase from last year’s $8.6 million total payout. Valero Energy Corporation, the San Antonio-based sponsor of the event since 2002, has by far amassed the largest amount of charitable donations among all PGA TOUR events to date despite not having a significant prize pool compared to other non-major tourneys on the calendar.
